Ubuntu 25.10 Drops Support for Running GNOME on Xorg

Last month I reported that GNOME’s plans to drop X11 support as soon as this year would have a major impact on Ubuntu, as it plans its next LTS release — today, Ubuntu confirmed as much. Ubuntu 25.10 ‘Questing Quokka’ will not include an X11 Ubuntu desktop session. Only a Wayland session will be available.
