In Google Docs, we may perform updates to our documents. “PDF” stands for “Portable Document Format”. In this “PDF” file, we cannot change our work. We change our files to PDF format for sharing and printing. We have some documents in Google Docs that we need to convert to PDF documents for sharing. Thus, there are several techniques to convert our Google Docs.

Approaches for Changing Google Docs to PDF

We offer three distinct approaches to change Google Docs to PDF files. This article thoroughly studies all three approaches and demonstrates how they function.

• Approach 1: Using the “File” -> “Download” -> “PDF Document(.pdf)”
• Approach 2: Using the “File” -> “Email” -> “Email this file” -> “Save”
• Approach 3: Using the “File” -> “Print” -> “Save as PDF”

Example 1: Utilizing “File” -> “Download” -> “PDF Document”

As we are working in Google Docs, we want to save our file or document in the “PDF” form so that no changes will be made in this document after that. We first show the Google Docs document here. Then, we move ahead and convert this document into a PDF file.

The “File” menu is present on this Google Docs document. We click on that “File” option from here.

After hitting the mouse button on this “File” menu, a drop-down menu with many options is displayed. We choose the “Download” option and see the arrow on its right side. Upon hovering over that arrow, more options are displayed. We select the “PDF Document (.pdf)” here since we wish to change our Google Docs into the “PDF” document. Now, our Google Docs document is then converted to a “PDF” file and we download that “PDF” file here.

We open our download folder, and the file is present there. We just click on that “PDF” file, so this file is opened here. The converted “PDF” file is also shown in the following. We can’t change the file’s content here in “PDF” form.

Example 2: Using “File” -> “Email” -> “Email this file” -> “Save”

After opening the Google Docs document here, we now click on the “File” menu and select “Email” from this menu. The “Email” also contains more options from which we choose the “Email this file” here.

We type the email address to whom we wish to send this email. We also add the subject of this email and then click on the “Send” button so this document is sent to the email address which we typed here. The document is sent in the form of a “PDF” file here.

Now, we open Gmail where we sent the previous document. From this Gmail, we download that file which is in the “PDF” form.

Here, the “PDF” file is shown which is converted here after sending the Google Docs file via email. When the Google Docs file is sent through email, it is automatically converted into a “PDF” file so that no one can make changes in this file’s content.

Example 3: Using “File” -> “Email” -> “Email this file” -> “Send Yourself a Copy”

After we opened the Google Docs document, we go to the “File” menu and pick “Email” from there. More options are available under “Email” from which we select “Email this file” in this case again. But this time, we will show how to send the “email to yourself”.

Here, we check the “Send yourself a copy” box. Then, we also add an email address below so this email is also sent to our Gmail as the copy. We also enter the topic of this email and then press the “Send” button which sends this document to the email address that we entered and also to ourselves as a copy. The document is delivered in the form of a “PDF” file.

Now, we access our Gmail where we sent the preceding document and we retrieve that file, which is in “PDF” format, from Gmail.

The “PDF” file is shown here which is converted after the Google Docs file is sent through email. When a Google Docs file is sent through email, it is converted into a “PDF” file so that no one may edit the content.

Example 4: Using “File” -> “Print” -> “Save as PDF”

We open the “File” menu and then chose the “Print” option here. We open the document’s file menu which is written in Google Docs. This “Print” option helps in converting the Google Docs into the “PDF” file which will not be edited or changed after that. In this way, our file is now converted to a PDF file, and we can easily save this file as a PDF file.

After pressing on “Print”, we can see the “Save as PDF” option. We just click on the “Save” option here to save this Google Docs file as the “PDF” file.

Pressing the “Save” option allows us to put the file name so that the “PDF” file is saved with the name that we typed here. Here, we can also select the destination where this file is saved. We are now saving our file to the desktop here with the “My document” file name.

After saving the file as a “PDF’ file, this file is now shown on the desktop. We open this “PDF” file from the desktop which is also shown in the following:
