How to Breed a Sheep in Minecraft

Among many other sheep is one of the passive and friendly mobs in Minecraft that won’t attack you in any circumstances. If you attack this mob, then it will try to run away from you in fear. The breeding process is also relatively simple compared to many other mobs and other than that what benefits you can take from it will also be discussed in this article.

Breeding a Sheep in Minecraft

In a nutshell, breeding a sheep is relatively easy compared to many other mobs in the game the main reason is that they can be easily bred using wheat crops. All you need to do is to bring two sheep together and then feed both with the wheat which will start the love mode that you can notice by seeing hearts on top of them. After activating the love mode between them you will notice a new baby will be born that can be seen in the image below:

It is always better to enclose them inside any animal farm that you can make using a fence that is ideally best suited as we did above.

Uses of Sheep in Minecraft

The two most common uses of sheep are that you can either use them to collect wool or you can kill them to get mutton. Let’s discuss these two things in detail in the next section:

Getting Wool
You can get the wool from a sheep using a tool known as a shear. We have covered this topic in detail in this article but we will summarize the whole process for you. You need to equip the shear in your hand and then you need to go closer to any sheep nearby. After that, you will notice that the appearance of that sheep has been changed as it has no skin on it.

Getting Raw Mutton
You can get raw mutton from a sheep by killing it which will recover your 2 hunger levels whereas if you eat it cooked then you will be able to recover 6 hunger points. Moreover, killing a sheep will also give you wool as well but if you don’t want to kill it then you can follow the above method as well.

Making Wheat in Minecraft

Now if you are wondering how, you can get wheat in Minecraft then let me simplify this for you. You need to find the wheat seeds first which is one of the most used seeds in Minecraft. All you need to do is to find the green areas where you will notice that some parts are more grown than the others as shown below:

You need to chop them and for that, you don’t even need any tool and in return, you will get a green-colored seed.

Later you can use a hoe to prepare a surface to make a wheat farm with a nearby water source for which you can use a water bucket. You can speed up the process of growth of the wheat by using some bonemeal on them using a composter.

After the wheat farms are fully grown then you can collect the wheat just by punching them which will not only give you wheat but also the wheat seeds as well.

Conclusion

Sheep are one of the friendly and passive mobs available in Minecraft and the breeding process is also very simple to perform compared to others. One of its main reasons is that you only need to hold wheat in your hand close to them and they will start to follow you wherever you go. Also, if you are planning to kill this mob then it won’t attack you and try to run away from you.
