Flashforge Adventurer 3 – 3D Printer Review

With the invention of 3D printers one can print objects of their own design within no time but here the question arises which printer you should buy as the market is flooded with them. If you are a beginner and want to print objects then you will be requiring a printer that is easy to use, has a better print quality and is safe to use. For such requirements the Flashforge Adventurer 3 can be the one of your options and to further elaborate how it can be the best buy for you I have given my review about this printer.

Reviewing the Flashforge Adventurer 3

If you are looking for a printer that is easy to operate, have better printing quality and is reliable then you can assess the following parameters of the printers available in the market to narrow down your search or options:

Design and specifications

The Flashforge Adventurer 3 is a box shape 3D printer that has everything enclosed in it and that makes it safe to use. Also, the weight of the printer is surprisingly low which can be beneficial while moving the printer from one place to another. Another advantage of such design is that it is feasible according to the classroom environment as printing takes place in a close area. There is one glass door on the front and one glass panel on the side and on the other side there is a case for the filament roll. To keep the inside temperature of the printer cool there is one exhaust on the back side of the printer.

To interact with the printer there is a touch LCD on the front and for connectivity purposes this printer is equipped with WI-FI, Ethernet, cloud, and a USB port. There is a filament cartridge already placed in the printer that can detect if the cartridge is empty and it will halt the process of the printing. This printer also has a camera inside the printing area that helps you to monitor the ongoing print. To improve the quality of printing the nozzle is made of High-grade metal which is easily washable and is also removable.

Setting up the 3D printer

The Adventurer 3 comes with its own slicing software called FlashPrint which converts the file format into .stl format so that the printer can understand the drawing. Before going to the print, the user has to select the material, resolution of the print and some props if required by the model that is to be printed. Next step is to load the filament to the nozzle by selecting the option of “change/load the filament” from the LCD panel. It starts to heat up the nozzle to prepare it for printing and once the nozzle gets heated it pushes the filament to the nozzle and the whole process can take up to 5 minutes approx.

Since the printer has a small bed so it requires no calibration, and the position of the nozzle should be at Z offset because if it is too high then the filament material won’t stick on the bed and on the other hand if the nozzle is too low then the first layer of the object won’t build up. As I have mentioned, FlashPrint software is used as a slicing software so for that you need an application on your smartphone, and it will connect with the printer using Wi-Fi by giving the IP of the printer to the application.

Print Quality

The print quality of the objects mainly depends on the filament since this printer uses the fused deposition modeling technology. There are two types of filaments that you can use with this printer one is Polylactic acid (PLA) that is composed of organic materials and the other is Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) this is composed of Styrene polymers, Butadiene and Acrylonitrile. You can expect some visibility of lines in the printed objects, so the overall quality of objects is not good as compared to other competitors like Elegoo Saturn.

Final thoughts on Flashforge Adventurer 3

Based on the above explained parameters I have summarized my review into the following points that will help you to get to know about positives of this printer as well some of the downsides of buying the Flashforge Adventurer 3:
